Last Generation to perform

CROSSLAKE - Members of the Last Generation band get together for the fun of playing music from the "last generation" - the music of the 1930s, '40s and '50s. Pre-service music will begin at 9:10 a.m. Sunday at Crosslake Presbyterian Church.

Last Generation plays at the two churches in Crosslake each year as well as at nursing homes and community fundraisers. They have also provided music for the local Habitat for Humanity dinner for several years.

Crosslake Presbyterian is located east of the Crosslake Community Center, 14444 Daggett Pine Rd.

Mary Beth Carlson in concert

NISSWA - Mary Beth Carlson and guest vocalist Mark David Williams will be in concert at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Grand View Lodge, Gull Lake Center in Nisswa.

Carlson and Williams have been performing together over the past 10 years and will be sharing selections from their debut CD. "Reflections" features a blend of piano orchestral arrangements and vocal performances.

Guest speaker at Laestadian Lutheran

Sunday is the seventh Sunday after Pentecost (Theme is "The Law of Love") and the Brainerd Laestadian Lutheran Church will have guest speaker. Daniel Parks from Menahga will serve at these services. Service times are at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. with a noon meal served in the church dining room.

CCC third annual men's golf tournament

CROSSLAKE - Christ Community Church, Nisswa, will have its third annual men's golf tournament at 2 p.m. Sunday at Crosswood's Golf Course in Crosslake. Play 18 holes of golf with a cart, dinner and a beverage for $40. Trophies awarded. Interested men can call Bryan at 851-5881 or Pastor Dave at 839-8972.

Worship celebration at joint service

LEADER - The joint parish of Swan Valley and Maple Hill Lutheran Churches will hold a worship celebration with a joint service on Sunday at the Swan Valley Church located in Leader, 13 miles north of Motley on Highway 64. The service will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by a potluck dinner. Special music will be provided by Galen Filsmyer of Pine River. The following Sunday, the service times at the churches will be Maple Hill at 9 a.m. and Swan Valley at 11 a.m.

Classic car Sunday at outdoor worship service

CROSSLAKE - Pastor Mark Anderson and the members of Crosslake Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A., will have the 12th annual classic car Sunday at 10 a.m. Sunday. The outdoor worship service is located on Daggett Pine Road across from the Crosslake Community Center in Crosslake.

The community and visitors to the area are invited to attend this special service or participate by coming in a vintage, sports car, street rod, specialty car or family car. All people are welcome to this service. . For questions, call the church office at 692-3682.

New Song Ministries/Crossroads Music Cafe

The New Song Ministries/Crossroads Music Cafe will sponsor the Glen Clark Family from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Sunday and Aaron Sutton and Kara Craine from 7-8 p.m. Thursday. They will perform at Crossroads Music Cafe, 217 South Seventh St., Brainerd. For more information, call 829-0834.

Pillager fair worship service

PILLAGER - Worship will be offered at the Pillager Fair at 11 a.m. Sunday. The gospel group Gone Fishin' will be performing. There will also be a children's time during the service. Lunch follows the service provided by KC's Saloon.

Bethany Lutheran open house

CUSHING - Bethany Lutheran Church of Cushing will celebrate its church building with open house activities on July 26. The celebration begins at 11 a.m. with the worship service followed by a meal beginning at noon. Music, games and tours of the building will follow the meal, ending at 4 p.m.

New Song Ministries' farewell to the Castro family

Richard and Jeni Castro have poured their hearts into New Song and into the churches they served with their music and sound tech skills. They have been called to plant New Song West in Scottsbluff, Neb. At Crossroads Music Cafe from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday there will be music performances.

Rockfish will perform from 12-12:30 p.m., Key Lane and Journey North worship team from 12:50-1:20 p.m., Ted Feyder and the Lakewood team from 1:40-2:10 p.m. and Timberwood from 2:30-3 p.m.

Minnesota Teen Challenge Choir to perform in Crosslake

CROSSLAKE - Minnesota Teen Challenge Choir will perform at 10:45 a.m. Sunday at Crosslake Assembly of God Church. Lunch will follow.

Outdoor gospel concert

MALMO - The Malmo Free Church will present The Alzen Family at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Brad and Denise Alzen and their four children are from Roberts, Wis. They are the winners of the Minnesota Bluegrass and Old-Time Music Association 2006 Famiy Area Talent Contest. They play bluegrass and gospel music.

The church is located near the junction of Highways 47 and 18 on Highway 18 near the northeast corner of Lake Mille Lacs.

All Saints Summer Splash

The All Saints Summer Splash will begin at 6 p.m. Friday at The Legacy at Craguns. There will be all-you-can-eat burgers, brats, keg beer and pop included. Tickets are $25. Reserved table for eight will be $200. Limited tickets available. No tickets at the door. For tickets call Judy at 825-7106. All proceeds will be used to support efforts to establish facilities for the All Saints Parish.

Annual neighborhood picnic at Prince of Peace

BAXTER - The annual neighborhood picnic at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church will begin at 6 p.m. July 29 at 6311 Mildred Rd., Baxter. Watch for signs.

Open to everyone, there will be outdoor games, a picnic dinner and socialization. Vacation Bible school registration forms will be available. Bring awn chairs; everything else is provided.

Vacation Bible school at First Baptist

BAXTER - First Baptist Church of Baxter is having vacation Bible school from 6-8:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Classes will be for ages 4 through adults. Puppets, crafts, Bibles lessons, games, refreshments and many other activities will be available each evening.
