In a brief special meeting the Brainerd Water and Light Board formally accepted a $6.3 million federal grant offer for the construction of the proposed wastewater treatment plant. They also expect a state grant for $1.3 million.

The Nisswa village council appointed a committee to explore methods of preventing violence and trouble in Nisswa and said no parking signs would be place on the road past the Blazer, following considerable trouble over the Fourth of July weekend.

The H. R. Davis Auto Sales Co. and the Brainerd Army-Navy Store were entered sometime during the night. Cash registers were smashed, cigarette and candy machines broken and cash and merchandise were taken.

A St. Louis man, vacationing at Grand View Lodge, became the first to score a hole in one at the Brainerd Country Club course. Sid Lger used a No. 1 iron on the 205-yard ninth hole, completing an even-par round of 72.
