COLD SPRING - The Brainerd Bees were stung with three losses at the Cold Spring tournament this weekend, losing 3-1 to Austin on Sunday, 9-8 to Shakopee on Saturday and 6-5 to Minneapolis on Friday.
Austin scored three unearned runs in the first inning while five different Bees players singled. Brainerd's lone run came on a Justin Huether RBI sacrifice fly in the sixth.
Against Shakopee, Huether was 3-for-3 with two doubles and five RBIs, Tim Martin added two hits and two RBIs and Blake Eller collected a pair of hits in the loss for the Bees.
Shakopee scored two unearned runs with one out in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the win.
In Friday's game against Minneapolis, Steve Berndgen had a hit and drove in two runs for the Bees while Martin picked up a hit, walked and scored twice. Ethan Branum went 1-for-2 with an RBI and Brady Prince chipped in with a hit and one RBI in the loss.
