Grace Hatheway

HACKENSACK - Grace Hatheway, age 94, of Hackensack, passed away Monday, July 13, 2009. She was born June 16, 1915, in Hampshire Township, Iowa, to John and Anna Krogmann. Grace married John Hatheway on Oct. 21, 1934, in Clinton, Iowa. They moved to Hackensack in November of 1942. Grace worked for several years at a private nursing home owned by Olivia Lind in Hackensack and also was employed at Ah Gwah Ching for 15 years. She loved needlework, baking and playing cards.

Grace is survived by her children, Sylvia Carlson, Lorri Henning (Tim); grandchildren, John Carlson (Liz), Ron Hatheway, Mike Hatheway, Brian Hatheway, Chris Garoutte (Dean), Mike Henning (Theresa); great-grandchildren, Anna Carlson, Ashley Carlson, Cole Garoutte, Caleb Garoutte, John Henning; great-great grandchild, Cayden; daughter-in-law, Avis Hatheway.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; son, Russ; son-in-law, Walt; grandson, Derek; brother, Milo; and sister, Alice Peterson.

Services will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, at Union Congregational Church, Hackensack, with Pastor Michael Small officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with Kline Funeral Home, Pine River.
