Fashion show to feature vintage wedding dresses

Have you ever wondered what brides wore 50 or 100 years ago?

Find out by attending the Nisswa Women's Club Vintage Wedding Tea and fashion show at 2 p.m. Aug. 13 at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa.

The event is open to the public. The $20 tickets can be obtained by calling Pat Birznieks at 829-8193 or Jane Myhra at 963-4484.

Tickets: $20, available by calling Pat Birznieks at 829-8193 or Jane Myhra at 963-4484. Guests also asked to make a non-perishable food or cash donation to Lakes Area Food Shelf.

Why: To offer a fun, social gathering and to raise funds for charitable purposes, especially scholarships.

Proceeds from the event will be used for charitable purposes, mainly scholarships for Brainerd lakes area high school seniors and mid-career women.

Tea will be served, along with refreshments like those that might have been served at a long-ago wedding reception. Those attending the show are asked to bring "wedding gifts" of non-perishable food or cash. These will be donated to the Lakes Area Food Shelf.

In addition to the fashion show, there will be a continuous PowerPoint presentation of people's wedding pictures from long ago. Wedding music will be performed.

Women's Club members Kate Carlson and Eunice Wiebolt are co-chairs of the committee planning the event. Other committee members are Elaine Bercher, Pat Birznieks, Marilyn Cramer, Teresa Faust, Sharon Halliwill, Anne Laufman, Jane Myhra and Becky Stover.
