Landon looking for a 'grandpa' to go fishing

Child in Need

Once in awhile we'll get a call from someone who says they'd like to become an adult partner but they think they're too old. We love calls like that because it gives us an opportunity to talk about the wonderful matches we have made between "senior citizens" and kids. Twenty-five percent of our adult partners are age 60 or older.

Are you wondering why this information is important? Well, we just happen to have a youngster on our waiting list who would love to be matched with "grandparent-type" people. Five-year old Landon is a sweet little guy who will be entering kindergarten this fall. He's friendly, outgoing and energetic and, although he gets along well with just about anyone, he really likes older people. He has asked his mom if she could get him a grandpa!

Some of Landon's favorite activities include bike riding, swimming, fishing (if the fish are biting), going to the park and drawing. He lives in south Brainerd with his mom. Dad is in the area but he's pretty busy with his new family and has little time for Landon. Mom wants Landon to have a consistent, positive male in his life - someone who has the time and energy to befriend a little guy. Because Landon is so young, a couple would be ideal.

If you're missing your grandchildren who live far away or you're wondering if you'll ever have any grandchildren, Landon could be the child to fill that void. Please give us a call to get more information about him or any of the other kids on our waiting list. You can reach us at 829-4606 in Brainerd, info@kinshippartners.org; or (877) 730-5437. You also can visit our Web site at www.kinshippartners.org.
