Paul Oberg, son of retired minister Rev. Clayton and Mary Oberg of Baxter and occasional soloist at Park United Methodist Church, will receive an Award of Merit from the American Association for State and Local History during its annual conference in Oklahoma City this September for his work as volunteer curator of the McCormick School Museum in Wichita, Kan.
Oberg will be the recipient of an Award of Merit from the AASLH Leadership in History Awards for his volunteer leadership of the McCormick School Museum in Wichita. For the past decade, Oberg has offered his museum expertise to supervise the work of retired employees of the Wichita Public Schools in maintaining the museum and archive documenting the history of the school system.
