Parks and rec Mid-Season Slam rosters announced

For the first time the Brainerd Parks and Recreation Department will host a Mid-Season Slam for youth softball.

The seniors will be 6 p.m. Thursday at Buffalo Hills Park. The Juniors will play 6 p.m. Friday at Buffalo Hills Park 1 and the Pettites will play 6 p.m. Friday at Buffalo Hills Park 2.

Coaching the Force for the Senior Slam will be Larry Ruikka, Mike Schmidt, Mike Jay and Bob Miller. The players will be Brittany Boeder, Jasmine Hayes, Erica Stepanek, Corrina Schmidt, Natalie Zimmerman, Elli Ebinger, Nichole Hansen, Emily Hill, Ali Jay, Chloe Miller, Jacky Caughey, Kelsey Binggeli and Maren Goff.

The Heat will be coached by Martin Glasby, Brad Flanagan and Dean Makey. The players will be Kaitlyn Bible, Allison Herron, Kelsey Ketterling, Maeley Glasby, Cassie Flanagan, Rachel Lindholm, Rachel Bartosh, Mikaela Martinson, Madisen Hensel, Kristine Schrader, Kate Hauble and Alyssa Anderson.

For the Junior Slam the Force will be coached by Chris Nayquomake, Don Ryan and Jim Shaw. The players will be Noel Kegg, Samantha Mitchell, Simone Boyd Evans, Kelsey Benjamin, Caitlyn Jay, Jordan Hanson, Fallon Ryan, Reilly Peterson, Jenna Degen, Shayla Metz, Maddie Waters and Abby Ouincer.

The Heat will be coached by Rich Munsch, Kevin Mills and Kelli Schweigart. The team will be Leanne Bock, MiKayla Boeder, MiKinze Boeder, Samantha Meyer, Jordyne Mills, Ashley Olson, Faith Kassulker, Miranda Zilka, Jett Johnson, Alli Franzen, Katelyn Kalenberg and Jaclyn Rosenberg.

For the Petite Slam the Force will be coached by Carl Hadrits, Rick Bjork, Brent Gunsbury and Sandi Jellum. The team will be: Jordyn Feiler, Amber Schmaltz, Maren Hadrits, Alexus Roby, Ariel Smith, Richelle Bjork, Hanna Degen, Jaeden Lindsey, Claire Gunsbury, Keaona Mitchell, Josie Sam and Toni Weous.

The Heat will be coached by Joe Ewald, Holly Holm, Mike Loeffelbein and Jim Exsted. The team will be: Abbigayl Olson, Jillian Ewald, Jaelyn Kappes, Kaley Thurstin, Sierra Edwards, Anna Vreeland, Taryn Fleck, Theresa Loeffelbein, Teagan Maloney, Brook Watland, Madison Exsted and Vanessa Britton.

Aitkin players compete in all-star game

Chris Hoffman, Brian Burman, Matt Christensen, Mitch Hodgman and Tim Elling represented the Aitkin River Hawks in Sunday's Eastern Minny All-Star game in Isanti.

The West team of Princeton, Milaca, Chisago Lakes and Isanti defeated the North team of Aitkin, Quamba, Mora and Hinckley 7-6.

Hoffman, Elling and Christensen all had singles. Hodgman finished 2-2 and rove in two runs. He also pitched two innings, giving up two unearned runs.

Christensen pitched two scoreless innings with four strikeouts and Burman started at catcher.
