Brainerd takes 2 from St. Cloud

It took nine innings, but the Brainerd VFW team defeated St. Cloud 4-3 Monday in St. Cloud.

In the nightcap, Brainerd won 9-2

Blaine Bubalo pitched the complete-game victory in the opener. He struck out four, walked three and allowed five hits and three earned runs.

Pat Skogen, Mike Smith and Jack Luke each finished 2-for-4 with Luke knocking out a triple and Skogen a double.

Bubalo helped his cause at the plate by finishing 2-5 with the game winning single in the ninth after Luke's triple.

Chris Sausen picked up the win in Game Two.

He struck out five, walked none and allowed nine hits and two earned runs.

Cole Jensen went 3-3 with an RBI and three runs. Bruce London finished 3-4 with an RBI, Adam Gunderman hit a two-run double and Tyler Lenz hit a two-run single.

Brainerd improved to 21-7 and will host Little Falls 11 a.m. Tuesday.
