Johnson, S-M top W-DC again

STAPLES - For the third time this summer Gunner Johnson pitched a gem to lead the Staples-Motley legion team to a 2-0 win over Wadena-Deer Creek in the first round of the post season.

Johnson struck out 16, walked four and hit one batter in the complete-game shutout. He also finished with both S-M hits, including an RBI double in the first that scored Anthony Jenkins, who reached on a fielder's choice.

W-DC's Kevin Tomberg struck out five, walked two and allowed just the two hits in the loss.
