PEQUOT LAKES - A fire Monday destroyed the home of Dylan and Aimee Wilson on 56th Street Southwest in Loon Lake Township in Cass County, about a mile west of Pequot Lakes.

Pequot Lakes firefighters responded to the blaze about 8:10 a.m., Fire Chief Tom Nelson said, and left about 1 p.m. No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. Nelson said the cause of the fire is being investigated by the state fire marshal's office.

Dylan and Aimee Wilson, rural Pequot Lakes, held each other Monday as they looked at the charred remains of their home on 56th Street Southwest. Their home, located about a mile west of Pequot Lakes in Cass County, burned to the ground at about 8:10 a.m. Monday. Lake Country Echo/ Pete Mohs

The Wilsons were in the process of constructing an addition to the single-story home, Nelson said.

"From what I understand, they just put the second coat of paint on the new addition and were getting ready to move over," Nelson said. The home is a total loss, he said.

The Crosslake Fire Department's Rapid Intervention Team assisted at the scene.
