Aaron Jenkins pitched and hit the Brainerd American Legion to one victory and Kevin Mertens came on in relief to win game two against Bemidji Tuesday at Don Adamson Field.
Brainerd won by scores of 4-2 and 5-3 to improve to 17-5.
Jenkins pitched a seven-inning complete game striking out two and walking one. He also was 3-for-3 with two doubles and a RBI.
Blake Eller was 2-4, Chris Klabo was 2-4 with a double and two RBI and Mike Germain was 1-2 with a double and RBI for Brainerd.
In the nightcap Mertens struck out three and walked none in two innings of relief. Justin Huether started and gave up one walk and three runs in three innings.
Offensively Devin Roberts was 1-2 with a RBI, Mertens was 1-1 with a RBI and Scott Williams was 1-1.
"This was the first time we've had a complete roster," said Brainerd coach Mark Germain. "Bemidji has been by far the best talent we've played against and we were focus the whole game."
Brainerd hosts Nisswa 5 p.m. Wednesday at Mills Field.
"Potentially this will be an exciting game," said Germain. "The kids are pretty excited. It was hard to keep them from looking past Bemidji."
