Lon Stewart Coulter, age 61, of North Mankato and Crosslake, Minn., died Saturday, July 10, 2010, at St. Cloud Hospital of a heart attack after battling pneumonia.
A Celebration of Lon's life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mankato, with Pastor Jay Dahlvang and Pastor John Schroeppel officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Thursday.
Lon was born Dec. 28, 1948, to Donald S. and Adelle (Brazele) Coulter in Springfield, Minn. He graduated from Wilmar High School in 1966 and from Mankato State in 1970 with a B.S. in Business Administration. Lon was united in marriage to Suzanne A. Schroeppel on Dec. 26, 1970, in Winthrop. He served in the United States Army from 1970 to 1972. Lon owned Wilson Clothing until 1980. Lon was then employed as a financial planner with IDS Financial Services, American Express, Ameriprise and Advisor Net.
Lon Coulter
Lon was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the Maverick's Booster Club, and MSU Hoops. He enjoyed spending time on the pontoon on Cross Lake with his family and dogs, watching basketball, baseball, golf, and the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.
Lon is survived by his wife Sue; his two sons, Ben (Kristen) Coulter of Minneapolis; Nick Coulter of Crosslake; one grandson, Caden; and his step-mother, Sondra Coulter of LuVerne.
Lon was preceded in death by his parents.
