MLB--Suspended Los Angeles OF Marquis Grissom for six games and fined him an undisclosed amount for arguing balls and strikes, using foul language and making contact with umpire Marvin Hudson in a game on July 4.

American League

BOSTON RED SOX--Activated RHP Rich Garces from the 15-day disabled list. Optioned RHP Carlos Castillo to Pawtucket of the International League. Named Named Greg Biagini advance scout, Victor Rodriguez hitting coach for Pawtucket and Gomer Hodge coach for the Red Sox of the GCL.

MINNESOTA TWINS--Placed LHP Johan Santana on the 15-day disabled list. Called up RHP Adam Johnson from New Britain of the Eastern League. Transferred LHP Mark Redman to the 60-day DL.

TAMPA BAY DEVILS--Activated RHP Esteban Yan from the 15-day disabled list. Optioned RHP Jesus Colome to Durham of the International League.

TEXAS RANGERS--Activated 2B Randy Velarde from the 15-day disabled list. Sent OF Bo Porter to Oklahoma of the PCL.

ATLANTA BRAVES--Transferred SS Rafael Furcal from the 15- to the 60-day disabled list. Sent RHP Chris Seelbach outright to Richmond of the International League.

CHICAGO CUBS--Activated OF Rondell White from the 15-day disabled list. Sent OF Todd Dunwoody to Iowa of the PCL.

FLORIDA MARLINS--Activated INF-OF Andy Fox from the 60-day disabled list. Sent INF-OF Ryan McGuire outrighted to Calgary of the PCL.

MILWAUKEE BREWERS--Claimed RHP Mac Suzuki off waivers from the Colorado Rockies.

NEW YORK METS--Signed 3B David Wright and assigned him to Kingsport of the Appalachian League.

SAN DIEGO PADRES-- Placed RHP Adam Eaton on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 6.
