FREEPORT, Texas (AP) -- An explosion rocked an offshore gas rig in the Gulf of Mexico early Friday, and one worker was missing.
No injuries were reported among the other 37 workers, Coast Guard Petty Officer James Dillard said.
A Guard helicopter crew was searching for the missing worker, whose identity was not immediately released. Several rescue boats were also dispatched.The Coast Guard will investigate the accident.
The Marine 4 natural-gas drilling platform, 26 miles south of Freeport, is owned by Marine Drilling Management Co. of Sugar Land.
