Duane Hansen
Duane "Manny" Martin Hansen was born March 22, 1945, in Bertha to Theodore "Theo" and Martha (Stowe) Hansen. His 12-pound birth weight inspired his nickname. He attended District 80 country school through eighth grade and graduated form Staples High School in 1962. He was united in marriage to Lana Skeesick on June 17, 1967, in Motley. He did route delivery for Meyer's Cleaners, a company eventually purchased by American Linen, from 1969-1994. For the past eight years he had been a truck driver for pipeline construction and had enjoyed working all across the United States. He was a past member of the Staples Sportsman's Club, Ducks Unlimited and the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, trapping and fishing, particularly at his cabin on Lake of the Woods. He could fix anything and his expertise was often sought by family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren teasing, giggling and calling them his special pet names.
Duane will be sadly missed by Lana, his wife of 38 years; daughters, Amy (Rashad) Bhutta, of Lake Elsinore, Calif., and Kelly (Gordy) Thompson, of Staples; grandchildren, Kiana and Grant Thompson; siblings, Donald "Buck" (Cathy) Hansen, of Philbrook, Delbert "Speed" (Bonnie) Hansen, of Staples, Darlene "Tick" Kuiper, of Staples, and Dorothy "Dot" Seely, of Long Prairie; five brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Stacey Jo Hansen.
Services are entrusted to Brenny Funeral Home of Staples.
