Comedy Central cable television network today began taping "Let's Bowl," the half-hour game show featuring Brainerd alum Steve Sedahl, at a White Bear Lake bowling alley.
The network has purchased 10 installments of the show that stars Sedahl and Twin Cities actor Rich Kronfeld as 1970s style play-by-play commentators in a "People's Court" meets "Bowling for Dollars" zany format.
Billed as a parody on bowling, the show derives its humor from the bantering between the commentators, clad in polyester suits and oversized headsets, who oversee a contest between guest bowlers.
Taping will continue Saturday and July 20-21 at White Bear Bowl, 1600 Cedar Ave., White Bear Lake. The show's producers are looking for up to 100 "extras" to fill the audience seats. If interested, contact the casting hotline at (651) 255-6677. The first 30-minute segment will air Aug. 19.
The 21st annual Aitkin Riverboat Heritage Days gets under way next week, with a series of events including the traditional parade July 21.
The festival will emphasize family fun, organizers said, with events such as a "captain" and queen coronation, Miss Aitkin pageant, pancake breakfast and community picnic, street dances, horse show, tractor pull and others.
The celebration runs July 18-22, with the parade at 5 p.m. July 21. For more information contact the Aitkin Area Chamber of Commerce at 927-2316 or 800-526-8342.
