Pequot Lakes to stage summer play

PEQUOT LAKES -- For the first time, Greater Lakes Performing Arts will stage a light comedy in the summer.

"You Can't Get There From Here" by Pat Cook will be staged at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 27 and 28, in Pequot Lakes School's air-conditioned auditorium.

The Mavis Garner Bed and Breakfast is not the sort of place you'd find on a freeway or even on a map. That's because it gets most of its customers from a pothole on Main Street. When Arthur Lyman goes looking for Pulitzer Prize winner "L." Mansfield, he finds himself in the hole. Deciding to do an expose on the "scam" perpetrated by the town, he checks in, after which he is fined eight times, dragged across town by the local watch dog and fired from his job. What else could he possibly do but fall in love with one of the proprietors?

Tickets for the show are available at Lakes State Bank in Pequot Lakes and Crosslake, Wells Fargo Bank in Pequot Lakes and at the door the evening of performances. Tickets are $4 for adults and $2 for senior citizens and children 12 and under.
