Bzdok benefit at Eagles Landing

The Donna Bzdok "Believe Always" golf tournament is scheduled for 1 p.m. Aug. 10 at Eagles Landing Golf Club near Fort Ripley.

The fee is $100 per player and $400 per four-person team and includes golf, cart, gift bags and dinner.

Bell contributes 1 1/2 points for Minnesota

Pierz's Robert Bell defeated Ricky Hearden of Green Bay, Wis., 5 and 4 July 9 during the individual portion of the Minnesota-Wisconsin PGA Junior Cup Matches at The Jewel Golf Course in Lake City.

Bell teamed with Jon Trasamar of Blue Earth and halved Chad Ebert of Kenosha and Lucas Van Beck of Wisconsin Rapids in the July 8 four-ball matches.

Bell's 1 1/2 points weren't enough to help Minnesota, which lost to Wisconsin 20 1/2-15 1/2.

Mille Lacs Academy event

The 12th Annual Mille Lacs Academy Charity Golf Tournament is scheduled for Aug. 20 at Izatys Golf and Yacht club in Onamia.

The 4-person scramble has a $75 entry fee per person which includes golf, cart, dinner and a raffle ticket. Corporate contributions of $325 include golf for four, dinner, raffle tickets and sponsor banner.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start at 11 a.m.

All proceeds go to the residents of Mille Lacs Academy.

Shootout update

John Carlson of Blaine shot 63 and Kyle Molin of Stillwater shot 75 on the Pine Beach East Course at Madden's Resort in East Gull Lake to grab spots on the leaderboard for the Pine Beach $10,000 Shootout.

Qualifying on the Pine Beach West Course were Brian Seiwert of St. Louis Park with a 67 and Dan McCormick of Minneapolis with a 69.

Open to professionals and amateurs alike, participants can qualify by paying a $25 entry fee and playing a round on Pine Beach East or Pine Beach West (or both). Players can qualify as often as they like. All players will play at scratch with no handicaps. Qualifying will run from April 20 to Labor Day.

"The low 36 scores and ties from each course will play in the Shootout in September," said Chris Foley, Madden's PGA professional. "The championship will consist of 18 holes on Pine Beach East and 18 holes on Pine Beach West. In the event of a tie for first place, the winner will be determined by a sudden death playoff."

Tim Bergin, Nisswa, aced the 167-yard 15th hole on the Dutch Course at the Legacy Courses at Cragun's July 5 using an 8-iron.

Michael Strain, Motley, aced the 141-yard, fifth hole at The Vintage at Staples May 11 using a 4-iron.

Gregg Dyste, Hamel, aced the 115-yard, sixth hole at Deacon's Lodge July 4.

Michael Webb, St. Louis, aced the 145-yard, second hole on the Traditional Course at Breezy Point Resort July 6 using a 9-iron.
