Nisswa sweeps Park Rapids in regular-season finale

NISSWA - Tate Rusk went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs as Nisswa easily handled Park Rapids 10-0 in the first half of Thursday's doubleheader before requiring a sacrifice fly by Rusk in extra innings to complete the sweep with a 5-4 win in the nightcap.

Burrell Flanagan picked up the Game One win for Nisswa, pitching a complete game shutout and striking out eight. Flanagan also provided offense with a double and drove in a run. Dan Bendzik collected a double and an RBI for Nisswa and John Rans finished with a home run.

In Game Two, Nisswa trailed 4-2 before scoring twice in the seventh and winning in extra innings. Alex Rhode picked earned the win, throwing two innings of scoreless relief. Rhode and Desmond Janosak swiped to bases apiece.

Aitkin 4, Ironton 3

AITKIN - Kylan Hill collected an RBI double as Aitkin edged Ironton 4-3 during Thursday's regular season finale.

Dan Landrus pitched a complete game for Aitkin, surrendering 4 hits and no earned runs. Kyle Hoffman drove in a run while Scott Nyberg had a single in each of his three plate appearances for Nisswa.

Ironton's Mark Hoge pitched six innings, striking out four and issued two walks in the loss.

Jake Box and Jake Serfling each collected triples for CLPLFL while Tyler Whitwer, Brandon Hilts, and Mike VanKleek each tallied doubles.
