BEMIDJI - Gary Leader, age 69, of Bemidji, Minn., died Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at the North Country Regional Hospital, Bemidji, Minn.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2009, at the Brenny Funeral Home, Randall, Minn. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji, Minn.
Gary Leader was born May 15, 1940, in Morristown, Minn., to Vernon Sheeley and Dolores Leader. He grew up and graduated from Morristown High School in 1960. He worked at many manufacturing companies throughout southern Minnesota, retiring from Gandy Manufacturing in 1981. He retired officially in 1990 due to a disability. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking and woodworking. He was a volunteer guide for Fishing Has No Boundaries and Angling Horizons of Minnesota for 18 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Leader, of Bemidji, Minn.; daughters, Yolanda (James Wells) Leader, of Owatonna, Minn., and Charice Leader, of Crystal, Minn.; granddaughter, Jamie Wells; mother-in-law, Dorothy Bentler, of Cushing, Minn.; brothers-in-law, Tim Junger, of Arlington, Va., Ken (Heather) Bentler, of Colorado; sisters-in-law, Joanne (Mark) Kolbeck, of Baxter, Minn., and Jackie Bentler, Wahpeton, N.D.; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and first wife, Kathleen Leader.
