Dell S. Howard

Dell S. Howard, 89-year-old resident of the Brainerd lakes area, passed away July 7, 2009. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 10 at the Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa, Minn., with Pastor Bruce Hannem officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 9 with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. at the Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd, Minn., and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Dell was born on Feb. 27, 1920, in Ironton, Minn., to the late Harry and Hildegard Howard. He was united in marriage on May 19, 1947, to Geraldine "Jerry" Krisak. Dell worked as a building contractor. He enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips to Colorado and Canada. Dell was a member of Lutheran Church of the Cross, Masonic Lodge, the Shriners and Elks.

Dell is survived by loving wife, Jerry Howard; son, Mike Howard, of the Brainerd lakes area; daughter, Susan (Jim) Swenberger, of Fargo, N.D.; grandchildren, Jonathan Howard, Dani Swenberger, Jeni Swenberger; sisters, Faye Center, of Minneapolis, and Rose Boffa, of Babbitt, Minn. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
