Bush seems weary yet optimistic
WASHINGTON - What's on the president's mind these days? We do still have a president, though it's sometimes hard to remember in our impatience to replace him.
OTHER OPINION: REFORM
Say what you will about the Rev. Al Sharpton, it is hard to ignore - or deter - him. And that is good news for those interested in fixing the nation's troubled public schools. Equally significant is his willingness and that of other leaders in a recently formed coalition to challenge traditional allies in the cause of black and brown children.

Open Forum
Although I don't consider myself a Republican or Democrat, I do vote in all elections. I just usually hope I am voting for the lesser of two evils. Lately I have seen a few letters in Open Forum blaming the Democrats for the oil crisis. To be fair, the Republicans have been the party in control for the last several years. Our president and vice president are both oil men and oil companies are celebrating record profits and tax breaks. So to want to continue our dependence on oil from any source seems logical at any cost to them.
