Branum, Eastman earn Pony MVP honors

Ethan Branum and Jake Eastman earned most valuable player honors in the Brainerd Parks and Recreation Department's fifth annual Pony League Midseason Classic at Bane Park on Thursday.

Branum spanked a three-run homer to help the American League squad to a 13-10, nine-inning victory over the National League.

The American League won the contest on a two-run homer by Billy Sather in the ninth inning.

Matt Ashburn, who won the second annual home run contest before the game, drilled a three-run homer for the American League. Ashburn hit three home runs in the pregame contest.

For the National League, Eastman went 2-for-3 with five RBI. Tommy Lyscio contributed with a 3-for-4 effort.
