Vacation Bible School at First Lutheran Church will be 9 a.m. to noon July 26-30. Lava Lava Island: Where Jesus Love Flows will be the theme. This will be a week of tropical fun, including island treats, a Lava Luau, jungle gym games and lots of island music. Bring a friend. Bible school is for ages 3 through sixth grade (completed). VFW recognizes Light of the Cross members
Monthly, several youth and their parents at Light of the Cross Lutheran Church in Garrison plan, prepare and serve dinner at the Sharing Bread Soup Kitchen in Brainerd for 40 to 50 people.
The VFW Ladies' Auxiliary of Garrison recently recognized the important part these young people and their parents play for the community. Those who have been part of this program for the last three years and who received certificates of appreciation from the VFW are: Cindy Archambault and her children, Sheila and Jeenah; Gay Calkins and her children, Angie and Nikki; Amy Carlson; Pastor Chris Hill and his children, Gary and Hannah; Chris Murphy and her children, Kelly and Sara; Shawn O'Brien; Pat Pohl; Krista Ramage; Karen Raddatz; and Gayle Walther.
Men and Boys get together
The annual Men and Boys "Get Together," formerly called the Father-Son Banquet, of the Ossipee Community Church is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday at the church. The Women's Society of the church will prepare and serve a hearty meal, which will be followed by a program of interest to all men and boys. Gary Roach, better known as "Mr. Walleye," will be the guest. He will share his vast experiences fishing throughout North America. Men are encouraged to bring their own sons, or perhaps a boy of acquaintance who would enjoy the event.
'The Song Masters'
Malmo Free Church will present "The Song Masters" from the Twin Cities at 7 p.m. Saturday at the church in Malmo. Jerry and Ginger are a gospel duo with supporting musicians. Come as you are and bring a lawn chair to listen to the music outdoors. The event will be held rain or shine. The church is at the junction of Highways 47 and 18 on Highway 18, near the northeast corner of Lake Mille Lacs.
Zion Lutheran Church event change
Instead of a potluck Sunday, the youth of Zion Lutheran Church will serve a brunch of egg bake, muffins, juice and coffee after the 9 a.m. worship service at the church. Once brunch is served, Heather Meyer from Legal Aid Services will lead a discussion regarding "Avoiding Financial Pitfalls." For more information, call Peter Keyes at 829-4317.
