Two thousand years after Euclid wrote his "13 Elements," math is still "cool." On Tuesday, Joe Van Wie will explain how Euclid used undefined terms, definitions, axioms and postulates to develop the theorems for mathematics. This Unlimited Learning program will be at Hallett Community Center in Crosby from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Until his retirement in 2007, Van Wie was a mathematics professor at Southwest Minnesota State University. He previously presented an Unlimited Learning program on numeration systems.
Unlimited Learning is hosting its annual membership drive during July, August and September. Sample the July 8 program and consider joining for the year. Refreshments will be served. Members attend free of charge, while non-members pay $6 per session.
The mission of Unlimited Learning is to "provide quality learning opportunities for all ages with emphasis on mature adults." The organization offers monthly programs and courses for those who love learning and enjoy exploring new and varied interests as well as connecting with people. For further information, contact Larry Foote at (218) 678-3034 or e-mail email@example.com .
Unlimited Learning programs are made possible in part by a grant from the Minnesota Humanities Committee.
