LITTLE FALLS -- Richard L. Zablocki Sr., 71, Little Falls, died Saturday, July 6, 2002, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
He was born Sept. 1, 1930, in Gilmanton Township, Benton County, to Albert and Mamie (Josviak) Zablocki. He grew up and attended school in the Gilman area. He served in the Army Sig-C from Feb. 6, 1952 to Jan. 20, 1954. He married Shirley "Sandy" Arkuszewski on Feb. 18, 1958, in Pierz. They lived in Little Falls. He was employed by United States Steel Corp. He was a Great Lakes seaman for 42 years. He retired in 1994. He was a member of Richard Ferrel Post 46 in Little Falls, 40 & 8 and lifetime member of VFW Post 1112. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie. He volunteered at the American Legion, VFW and Camp Ripley.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Susan Gorecki, Foley, Sharon Blonigen, Holdingford, Juliana Zablocki, Little Falls; two sons, Richard and Ronald Zablocki, both of Little Falls; a brother, Dennis Zablocki, Foley; two sisters, Delphine Cichon and Rita Hatch, both of Minneapolis; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Three brothers Daniel, LeRoy and Kenny Zablocki and a sister, Phyllis Funt, died earlier.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie with the Rev. Mark Innocenti officiating. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie and from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. American Legion Prayer will be 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Parish prayers will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls.
