VIRGINIA (AP) -- Opening statements in Donald Blom's murder and kidnapping trial were set for this week after the 15th and final juror was seated Friday.
Judge Gary Pagliaccetti scheduled the statements in St. Louis County District Court for 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Attorneys for both sides said they would file pretrial motions but they declined to discuss their content.
''I'm glad this part is over, and I'm ready for the trial to begin,'' said Pam Poirier, mother of 19-year-old Katie Poirier, who was abducted from a Moose Lake convenience store in May 1999.
Blom, 51, of Richfield, initially confessed to kidnapping and killing Poirier, but he later recanted. He has repeatedly denied being involved since recanting.
The trial was moved from Carlton County to Virginia because of extensive pretrial publicity.
