AITKIN -- Mervyn L. Clausen, 66, of Aitkin, died Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at Riverwood Health Care Center in Aitkin. He was born Dec. 15, 1938, in Radium, Minn., to Emil and Herren (Hunstad) Clausen. As a child he grew up in Grygla and graduated from Crookston Agriculture School. On Aug. 13, 1960, in Minneapolis, Mervyn was united in marriage to Mae Mootz. He was owner of M.L. Clausen Construction of Mounds View working as a cement contractor. They lived in Mounds View and Brooklyn Park prior to moving to their lake home near Aitkin in 1996. They spent their winters in Rockport, Texas.
Mervyn is survived by his wife, Mae (Mootz) Clausen; three children, Mitchell (Linda) of Colorado, Susan (Mark) Quaas, of Andover, Cindy (Kelly) Anderson, of Ramsey; four grandsons, Justin and Michael Quaas, and Tyson and Gage Clausen; mother, Herren (Hunstad) Clausen; sister, Janice Thiel, of East Grand Forks; besides many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Carroll, and father, Emil.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2005, at St. James Catholic Church, Aitkin. Father Paul Fruth will officiate. Burial will be in Thief River Falls. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Friday at the church.
