Golf shorts

The Hackensack Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a golf tournament July 12 at the Black Bear Country Club in Backus.

The event is in conjunction with Sweetheart Days. The tournament, which begins with a 10 a.m. shotgun start, will feature two representatives of the Minnesota Vikings.

A happy hour and award ceremony will be at the Riverhouse in Hackensack after the tournament.

Pine River results

Donna Balzer, Roxanne Thompson, Pam Musielewicz and Judy Thomas were members of the winning team in the four-person, net-team draw event in the Pine River Country Club Women's Golf League July 1.

Second place went to the team of Karen Boche, Jean McMullen, Darlene Flattegraf and Lynn Zwiener.

Chip-ins were made by Mary Jean Herdey and Judy Thomas.

The next women's event is July 15 and the event is low team putts with a longest putt proximity on hole nine.

All women are welcome to join the league, which starts with a 9 a.m. shotgun.

Holes in one

John Goman, Duluth, aced the 175-yard, 18th hole at Madden's Pine Beach East Course June 25 using a 7-iron.

Charlie Piram, Eden Prairie, aced the 172-yard, 13th hole at Madden's Pine Beach East Course June 26 using a 5-iron.

Ken Palmer, Merrifield, aced the 162-yard, 11th hole at Golden Eagle Golf Club July 1 using an 8-iron.

Mark Ambroz, Brainerd, aced the 91-yard, eighth hole at The Legacy Courses at Cragun's Par 3 course June 30 using a 9-iron.

Robert Disch, St. Louis Park, aced the 155-yard 14th hole at Madden's Pine Beach West Course June 26 using a 7-wood.

Kyle Engstrow, Shorewood, aced the 158-yard, 13th hole at Golden Eagle Golf Club July 3 using 7-iron.
