The Brainerd Police Department is asking for the public's help in solving a case involving two vehicles that were stolen late Wednesday and early Thursday morning.
Authorities believe a man is responsible for both thefts and he may have suffered facial injuries, including losing part of his eyebrow. The suspect is believed to be small in stature, possibly around 5 feet tall and he may be a juvenile.
The police department received the report of the first stolen vehicle, a pickup, that was on the same block as a hit and run accident reported at the 500th block of South Ninth Street around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Department recovered the unoccupied pickup at 11:22 p.m. Wednesday after responding to a one-vehicle rollover on County Road 23 in Daggett Brook Township.
The second vehicle was reported stolen at 12:58 a.m. Thursday and was a silver Pontiac Grand Prix taken from the 16,000th block of County Road 2 in Platte Lake Township. The car was located in the parking lot at The Lakewood Evangelical Free Church in Baxter around 10 a.m. Thursday.
The Baxter Police Department and the sheriff's department are assisting Brainerd with the investigation.
