Sis Gaustad, age 75, resident of Baxter, went to be home with the Lord Monday, July 4, 2005. Sis was born July 20, 1929, in Remer, Minn. to Arnold and Kelma (Wilberg) Lind. Her family moved to Brainerd where she attended school. She was a 1947 graduate of Brainerd's Washington High School. Sis married Peter Gaustad, her lifelong love, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jan. 2, 1951.
They moved to New Hope and lived there for 35 years, during which time she volunteered at many nursing homes and was a member volunteering here talents with the 'High Hopes' singing and dancing group. After retirement in 1987, Pete and Sis retired to Baxter. She continued her volunteer work with the Bethany Good Samaritan village Auxiliary, St. Joseph's Medical Center and R.S.V.P. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the South Long Lake Sewing Club.
In 2000, after a long anticipated wait, she was blessed with the birth of granddaughter Brooke and two years later with the birth of grandson Bodean. She was looking forward to the birth of another grandchild this year.
Survivors include her husband Peter, sons Peter "Michael" (Karen) Gaustad of Minneapolis and Steven (Ry-Chel) Gaustad and grandchildren Brooke and Bodean of Andover.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Wayne Lind.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2005, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Pastor Hans Anderson. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd and at the church the hour before services on Friday. Memorials maybe be given to the American Heart Association.
