WALKER -- The 46-year-old North Dakota man who drowned Saturday after falling off a sailboat on Leech Lake was identified Monday.
The name of the victim was William C. Ptacek of Oakes, N.D. Ptacek was found at 5:20 p.m. Saturday by the Lakes Area Dive Team, reported the Cass County Sheriff's Department.
The sheriff's department said the man, a passenger on the sailboat, had fallen into Leech Lake about 3 p.m. near Ottertail Point on the north side of the lake.
Baxter woman hurt in crash
BAXTER -- A 77-year-old Baxter woman was injured in a one-vehicle accident at 2:05 p.m. Sunday on Forestview Drive in Baxter, the Baxter Police Department reported.
The driver, Bernelle Ferrell, was reported in fair condition Monday in St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.
The Ferrell vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree.
Search continues for Andover woman
CROSSLAKE -- The search will continue for a 28-year-old Andover woman presumed to have drowned June 19 in Lower Whitefish Lake.
Heather Fick reportedly fell off a pontoon boat on the east end of the 8,368-acre lake, about a half-mile south of the channel with Big Trout Lake near Crosslake.
Sgt. Phil Stoll, head of Crow Wing County Sheriff's Boat and Water Division, said a more extensive search will resume Tuesday.
Stoll said searchers plan to use two side scan sonars, one owned by the county and the second owned by St. Louis County. The boat and water division also will use a Remote Operator Vehicle, which goes underwater, in the search. The ROV also is owned by St. Louis County.
Stoll said they plan to search Tuesday in deeper and colder water with the equipment.
