Deerwood, Oldest Town on Range. It is the 1872 date and all those since, bringing Deerwood to its Centennial Year that will be marked this Saturday when the village observes its 100th Birthday.

40 years ago (1962)

A hazel-eyed, brown-haired young lady was crowned Miss Brainerd for 1962-63 during the Miss Brainerd Pageant. She is Joyce Trask, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice H. Trask, Route 5, Brainerd.

60 years ago (1942)

A spokesman of the Northern Pacific Railroad here today announced that 40 additional men were to be placed in jobs immediately in the car shops here.

80 years ago (1922)

City welcomes men of Northern Pacific!

Since Oct. 1, 1870 N.P.Ry. synonymous with growth of city. New passenger station, pride of Brainerd, was completed in 1920 at a cost of $116,000.

100 years ago (1902)
