Rodney F. Couture, age 83, resident of Brainerd, formerly of Crosby-Ironton, died Thursday, July 3, 2008, at the Staples Care Center. Rodney was born in Trommald, Minn., on Nov. 5, 1924, to Stanley and Marian Couture. He served 1942-1946 during World War II in the US Navy. He married Marguerite Jarboe in Brainerd February 20, 1947. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Brainerd, the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his wife Marguerite; children, Bradley Couture, of Flagstaff, Ariz., Jeffrey (Debra) Couture, of Winter Haven, Fla., Sheree (Randy) Hansen, of Brainerd; grandchildren, Elissa (Jason) Rogers, Krista Hansen and great-grandchild Carter, Braden Couture and Whitney Couture; brothers Jack (Julie) Couture, of Mesa, Ariz., and Jim (Ellie) Couture, of White Bear Lake, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Stanley and Marian Couture; brothers Eugene and Kenneth Couture; and sister Charlene Pakarinen.
Rod served 1942-1946 during World War II in the US Navy.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd with visitation the hour before services at the church. Rev. Nate Lundgren will officiate. Burial will be in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery with military honors provided by Brainerd American Legion Post No. 255 Color Guard. Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church.
