He wants an outdoor pal

CHILD ILN NEED

Posted: Saturday, July 05, 2008

Imagine a summer being unable to enjoy some of the basic summer fun opportunities we might take for granted. Some of the kids waiting for caring adults through Kinship Partners face many long summer days without enjoying these activities. The precious, golden days of summer are too few to be stuck indoors!

Earlier this year Kinship introduced you to Aidan, a bright and happy boy from Crosby. He has been diagnosed with slight autism and is very gifted both academically and musically. What he really needs is a man to expose him to sports and outdoor activities, as he has no contact with his dad. When we first met him, he was hoping to abandon the training wheels and master a regular bike this summer. He also loves to go bowling and swimming and has fun working math problems. Aidan will be entering the fourth grade in the fall and is talkative and pleasant.

Wouldn't it be rewarding to help this little boy expand his leisure time activities and further develop his social skills? There's no special training needed to work with Aidan - just a little patience and a caring nature. Aidan's mom is also very supportive and looks forward to finding a new friend for her son.

Sign up today and share the beautiful summer days ahead with a Kinship partner in the Brainerd, Crosby, Pillager, Pequot Lakes or Pine River areas. You may inquire about becoming a partner in any of these locations by calling 829-4606, or toll-free (877) 730-5437. "Be a friend. Be a mentor."
