Posted: Thursday, July 05, 2001

According to Minnesota state law, all teens 14-17 years old are required to have a permit to operate a personal watercraft and all person ages 12-15 must have a permit to operate a boat with a motor of over 25 HP.

Gull Area Lakes Association (GALA) in conjunction with the Crow Wing and Cass County Water Patrol is sponsoring a class for those age groups in which they will get their temporary permit that same day. This class not only goes through all rules and regulations, but everyone involved will have some behind-the-wheel training as well.

The class is being offered Tuesday. Class starts at 9 a.m. A fee of $5 is charged for lunch. All who are interested should call Cathy or John at 963-2229 for details and pre-registration. Class size is limited.
