Cragun's is offering a three-week introductory women's golf clinic starting July 12 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

The clinic will run for three Thursdays and the cost is $75.

Cragun's is also offering a three-week junior clinic that will run every Friday starting July 13. The cost for juniors is $60 and begins at 3 p.m.

Pine River

women's league

The Thursday Pine River Country Club Women's Golf League is playing each Thursday through Sept. 13.

Coffee and sign-in is at 8:30 a.m. with shotgun start at 9 a.m.

The Tuesday Night Women's League has check-in at 5:15 p.m. and play at 5:30 p.m. Please call the golf course to register.

There were 29 golfers June 28 for "Use Only 3 Clubs," which included the putter.

Winners for each team: Georgi Ashlin, Audrey Holland, Marge Brown, Nancy Giovannetti, Mary Jean Herdey, Luann Shubert and Lorene Seaton.

Chip-ins were by Georgi Ashlin and low putts by Audrey Holland.

The game on July 12 will be Score Odd Holes.

Kay Paulson won the closest to the cone contest on Hole No. 7. This group meets every Monday night.

Breezy Point

The team of Laurel Mezner, Connie Erickson and Barb Elmquist won two prizes in the for women only social golf outing June 26 at Whitebirch Golf Course in Breezy Point.

The next outing is 6 p.m. July 17 at the Traditional Golf Course at Breezy Point. Cost is $25 for nine holes, cart and a light dinner.

MGA news

Amber Sitzman and Daryl Schomer of Pierz Municipal Golf Course battled back from a first-round 68 to shoot a 64 and bounce into a third-place tie at the 11th MGA Mixed Team Championship June 27 at the Monticello Country Club.

The duo finished with a 132 for third in the net division. They were in seventh place after the first day of play.

Ahlers of Cragun's qualifies for MGA Amateur

Qualifying for the Minnesota Golf Association Amateur Championship ended Monday at Northfield Golf Club.

Joe Ahlers of the Legacy at Cragun's was one of 10 qualifiers by shooting 39-37--76.

Jim Strandemo of Tianna Country Club in Walker is one of four alternates as he shot 37-40--77.
