No injuries in plane crash on Upper Hay Lake

JENKINS - No one was injured when a small float plane crashed at 1:27 p.m. Friday on Lower Hay Lake located west of the Whitefish Chain in Ideal Township.

Sgt. Scott Goddard with the Crow Wing County Boat and Water Safety said two men in a Rans Model S7 were trying to land the plane with floats on the lake when it overturned and crashed.

The pilot of the plane was Jeffrey Arndt, 47, Maple Plain, and the passenger was Benjamin Kodadek, 31, St. Louis Park. Goddard said alcohol was not involved in the crash.

The sheriff's office and the Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash. The DNR, Ideal Township Fire and North Ambulance assisted the sheriff's department at the scene.
