BAXTER - The water, recreation and the atmosphere for starting a family drew Dillon Remmick to the lakes area to open his chiropractic business.

Remmick opened Brainerd Lakes Wellness in March in the Design Drive business cluster on Design Road just off Golf Course Drive in Baxter.

Dillon Remmick, doctor of chiropractic, opened his own office in Baxter this spring. Remmick, who is engaged to be married and relocated here from the Twin Cities, said the lakes area was an attractive spot to start a family.

Part of the attraction was leaving the Twin Cities metro area for a small city environment in central Minnesota.

Remmick's business has a tag line "healthy by choice not by chance." Remmick said his office offers the chiropractic services with a specialty in wellness through nutrition and exercise. He said his interest lies in not just treating a problem but in prevention through exercise to add strength and a broad view for health and wellness that is less invasive and more affordable.

And Remmick said he likes to see those little miracles when people come in after suffering with migraines for years only to find there is relief after treatment as the headaches go away.

Brainerd Lakes Wellness includes chiropractic care along with a focus on overall health with fitness and nutrition. The suite of offices has expansive space for treatments.

Remmick earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota and went on Northwestern College of Chiropractic. He graduated from the college in 2009. Remmick worked for a time in Edina before venturing out on his own in Baxter.

Remmick currently runs his office with one additional staff member, but said he'd like to eventually expand his practice to include a a physical therapist with a focus on health and fitness goals.

The Bismarck, N.D., native moved to Minneapolis after high school. While working in Edina following his studies, Remmick said he was able to gain experience in working with professional athletes as the chiropractor he worked with treated Minnesota Vikings players.

One of the newer pieces of technology available is paraspinal thermography, Remmick said. The digital infrared imaging scans nerves.

Brainerd Lakes Wellness opened this spring in the Design Drive cluster of businesses on Design Road just off Golf Course Drive in Baxter.

As for his outlook on the Brainerd Lakes Wellness' potential, Remmick said: "I only have one direction to go, which is up."
