Somehow he finds the time. Bill Grange, who exhibited at the annual Arts in the Park on Sunday, teaches, paints produces pottery and also finds time for photography. His third-grade teacher said he did too much doodling, but that's where his art career started.

(Photo) A check for $4,800 was presented by Fred Beiber, chair of the recent Commerce and Industry Show, to Bob Olson, Brainerd Civic Center manager. It represented half the proceeds of the recent show. The other half went to the Brainerd Chamber.
40 years ago (1969)
(Photo) Mrs. Birgit Voeller, 27, of Brainerd, pledges allegiance to the flag after taking her naturalization test in St. Paul. Voeller, a native of Germany, moved to the states three years ago with her husband, Roland. She will become a citizen on August 20.
60 years ago (1949)
The barnstorming Van Dyke House of David baseball team won an exhibition game against the Brainerd Braves 7-6 at Memorial Park. The Braves out-hit Van Dyke by 15 to 9 but couldn't get hits at the right time.
80 years ago (1929)
One hundred and sixty cans of speckled brook trout were distributed last night to 14 streams within 40 miles of Brainerd. The trout fingerlings came via a fish car from the State Game and Fish Department's hatchery in St. Paul.
100 years ago (1909)
The usual rush of Fourth of July travel set in today. Every train had one extra car and the M & I had two. Nearly every train was behind time because of the large number of people traveling.
