Brainerd sweeps Little Falls

LITTLE FALLS - Nick Jelacie went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Alex Korte was 2-4 with a stolen base, a run scored and an RBI as the Brainerd Legion team defeated Little Falls 6-4 in game one of a double-header Monday.

Nick Anderson picked up the win for Brainerd, allowing five hits, four runs and striking out five Little Falls batters in four innings of work. Brett Kramer one-hit Little Falls over the final three innings to earn the save.

Eric Strack was 1-2 with two runs scored and Beau Hanowski went 1-4 with a run scored to lead the losing Little Falls offense.

Jelacie finished 2-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored in a 14-4 game two Brainerd win in five innings. Korte was a perfect 3-3 at the plate, scoring two runs and driving in one. Josh Haberman was 2-3 with two RBIs and Anderson doubled, driving in two runs for Brainerd.

Steve Berndgen was 2-2 with two RBIs, Kramer scored three runs and Rhett Williamson added a hit in the win.

Hanowski went 2-2 for Little Falls.

S-M takes two from Verndale

VERNDALE - Jordan Riewer was 2-for-4 with an RBI single in the eighth inning to vault the Staples-Motley Legion team over Verndale 4-1 in game one of a double-header Monday.

Devin Becker was 2-2 and Colton Thompson collected an RBI single in the first inning.

Thompson pitched seven strong innings to earn the win, allowing one run on eight hits while striking out two. Riewer picked up the save, striking out three and walking one to close out the game.

Thompson doubled in the first inning and blasted a solo home run in the second to start an S-M offensive juggernaut that ended in a three-inning, 13-2 game two win.

Justin Ringler scored three runs, finishing 2-2. Shawn Motl was also 2-2 and scored two runs in the S-M win.
