BARROWS - The second half of the season got underway at North Central Speedway with first-time winners and repeat winners in five exciting feature events.
Derek Olson took the checkered flag in the Pure Stock class for the second time in the 2007 season. Kevin Baron made it consecutive wins in as many weeks with a victory in the Street Stock class.
Midwest Modified rookie Mike Kuhlman took his first-career checkered flag and also finished second in the Street Stock Feature event. Dave Mass got his third victory of the season in the Super Stock class, while Shane Sabraski paid his first visit of the year to victory lane in the Modified Class.
In the second half of the season, the drivers will be battling for the points championship. There will also be an exciting list of feature events. Sprint cars will be featured in the Kouba Memorial race this coming Saturday along with a fireworks show.
The Late Model Challenge Series comes to the Speedway on August 14 and the Season Championship will be on August 25.
The first weekend of September will see the return of the Mighty Axe Nationals with the Sprint cars being the featured event.
Then on September 12-15, North Central Speedway will play host to the Wissota 100 races for all classes excluding the Pure Stock class. The Late Models will also race that weekend.
Pure Stock Feature - Derek Olson took his second checkered flag of the season finishing ahead of Dan Ebert and Mike Japp. That ended a three week run of victories for Ebert, who still leads Cody Przybilla by 31 points in the overall standings.
Street Stock Feature - Kevin Baron doesn't want the month of June to come to an end. He took his second consecutive checkered flag with Mike Kuhlman coming in second and Conrad Olson finishing in third. Kuhlman leads Baron by 23 points in the season chase.
Midwest Modified Feature - Driving in his rookie season in the Midwest Modified car, Kuhlman got his first career feature victory and moved into ninth place in the points standings behind leader Troy Jordan. Mike Jones continued his solid year with a second-place finish and John Thompson had a good run finishing in third.
Super Stock Feature - Dave Mass picked up his third victory in 2007 driving past Todd Walock and points leader Ken Puckett. The Super Stock class has one of the best point races of 2007 with Puckett leading Butch Butcher by only three points. Butcher had a seventh-place finish in the feature event.
Modified Feature - Shane Sabraski did not have a very good evening in his Midwest Modified car. Things went a whole lot better in his Modified car as he took the checkered flag with Justin Jones finishing second and Andy Miskowic finishing in third. Miskowic continues to try to catch Brian Strand who has the lead on him by 22 points in the season chase.
