LITTLE FALLS -- Helen Irene Kulus, 85, Little Falls, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, at St. Otto's Care Center.
She was born Aug. 9, 1915, in Little Falls to Joseph and Mary (Janey) Bednark. She graduated from Little Falls High School in 1933. She married William E. Kulus in 1936 in Cloquet. They lived in Cloquet for six years. They moved to Little Falls when her husband joined the Marines. He died Jan. 10, 1960. She was employed at St. Gabriel's Hospital as an admitting clerk for 10 years. She moved to Clarissa to do housekeeping for her brother. She moved into an apartment in Carlos. In 1994, she moved back to Little Falls and became a resident in the Buckman building. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls and the Belle Prairie Lady of Fatima mission group.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Kulus, Plymouth, and Bill Kulus, New Prague; two daughters, Janet Doucette, Monticello, and Mary Jean Yancy, Daly City, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a brother, the Rev. Walter Bednark, Lake Henry.
Her husband; twin infant sons, Pat and Mike; six brothers, Edward, John, Michael, Peter, Joseph and Henry; and four sisters, Ann Bednark, Bessie Bednark, Rosie Hasch and Agnes Ries, died earlier.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Nick Landsberger and Father Walter Bednark officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Little Falls. Memorials are preferred to the family for Helen's favorite charities.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. today, with parish prayers at 5:30 p.m., and from 8-10 a.m. Tuesday at Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls.
