Monda, Carlson qualify for MGA Amateur Championship

Tyler Monda and Curtis Carlson, both playing out of Madden's on Gull Lake, qualified for the 106th MGA Amateur Championship Tournament .

Monda shot 36-35-71 to be the second qualifier. Carlson shot 36-37-73 to be the fifth qualifier in the MGA qualifying tournament Monday at Pebble Lake Golf Course in Fergus Falls.

The MGA Amateur is scheduled July 20-22 at Mendakota Country Club in Mendota Heights.

Area Juniors play in state championship

Four lakes area juniors competed in the Minnesota State Junior Golf Championship (12 and under) June 26 at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker.

Placers included Andrew Muesing, Baxter, 34th, with a 104; Joseph Foley, East Gull Lake, 23rd, 96; Dakota Waverek, Staples, 14th, 87; and Erik Sandelin, Pequot Lakes, 38th, 108.

Dale shoots double-eagle

Jonas Dale of Pequot Lakes double-eagled hole No. 12 at the Traditional Course at Breezy Point Resort on Tuesday.

The hole distance was 305 yards. He used a driver (Ping G10).

Sports boosters benefit scheduled at Ruttger's

The Lakes course at Ruttger's will host a Brainerd Sports Boosters Benefit July 20-26.

Cost is $35 per golfer and includes 18 holes of golf and a riding cart. Golfers will save up to $40 off regular rates.

The boosters club will receive $10 for every golfer who presents a Brainerd Sports Boosters Benefit voucher upon check-in.

Ruttger's is located 20 minutes east of Brainerd on Highway 18, then north on Highway 6.

Women's tournament July 23 at Breezy Point

The Breezy Point women's golf invitational tournament is scheduled at Whitebirch July 23.

Continental breakfast will be at 7:30 a.m. Shotgun start is at 8:30 a.m. Lunch follows golf.

Cost is $55 per person for guests (includes breakfast, lunch, golf with cart, prizes).

Holes in one

• Vic Sofie, Nisswa, shot a hole in one June 24 on No. 8 on Dutch's course at the Legacy Courses at Cragun's. He used a pitching wedge to ace the 107-yard hole.

• Greg Farnam, Minnetonka, shot a hole in one on No. 15 on Bobby's course at the Legacy Courses at Cragun's June 22. He used a driver to ace the 227-yard hole.

• Scott Rielander, Brainerd, shot a hole in one on No. 6 on Dutch's course at the Legacy Courses at Cragun's June 16. He used a 6-iron to ace the 164-yard hole.
