LITTLE FALLS -- Sister Mary Francetta (Appolonia) Boeckmann, 92, died on June 29, 2003, at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls, Minn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Francis Convent on Wednesday, July 2, at 11 a.m. Arrangements are by Brenny Funeral Home. Friends may call on Tuesday, July 1, at St. Francis Convent from 4-8:30 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral on July 2. A wake service will be held at St. Francis Convent at 7 p.m. on July 1.
Sister Mary Francetta was born on Dec. 6, 1910, near St. Nicholas, Minn. She was the oldest of 12 children born to the late Joseph and Barbara (Nies) Boeckmann. She was accepted as a Franciscan Sister of Little Falls, Minn., on Aug. 12, 1931. She made her first profession of vows on Aug. 12, 1933, and final vows on Aug. 12, 1936. She was a Franciscan Sister for 72 years.
Sister Francetta ministered as a cook, baker, housekeeper and gardener. She served in Little Falls, Moorhead, St. Cloud, Parkers Prairie and Waite Park. She semi-retired in 1981 at St. Francis Convent continuing to do household tasks for her Sisters and creating greeting cards until her eyesight became a problem for her and she fully retired.
Sister Francetta was preceded in death by siblings: Gregory, Marcella Gieslinger, Coletta Juehnl, Ludwina Wagner, Alfred, Hildegard Bates, Othmar and Benedict. Survivors include siblings Wendelin, St. Cloud; Sylvester, Cold Spring; and Elmer, Richmond; nieces and nephews, and her sisters in religious life.
