We need younger legislators. People who hopefully will live long enough to witness the mess they have made. Oh that's right, they didn't make the mess - the other party did.
For people who want to change the world for the better, it is imperative that they first understand it. Consider that the world and the cosmos change spontaneously, with neither a director nor a goal. This is called evolution. This process is amoral and independent of any value system. Its veracity cannot be judged in those terms. It therefore behooves those who would change the world to first have an in-depth understanding of the natural phenomenon of organic evolution. Without that kind of scientific expertise and knowledge base, those who rant against the scientifically validated principles of evolution are only howling in the wind as they advertise their ignorance and incompetence to the world.
When we need to know, we go to the people who know the most about the subject. We don't seek counsel from plumbers when we have a cardiovascular problem. We don't seek the counsel of carpenters when we have a toothache. Those who know the most about the natural phenomenon of evolution are the professional biologists -- the scientists who are the most knowledgeable about the subject. Scientific knowledge about the physical and the factual--about the spontaneous changes in the earth's biota over time, comes from those people who study it professionally. The opinions of others are unqualified, specious, unreliable and therefore extremely dangerous.
The American Academy of Sciences (America's most prestigious organization of science professionals) and the world's scientific community, enthusiastically endorses the intellectual legitimacy and veracity of the Modern Synthesis (reconciling Darwinian concepts with population genetics and molecular biology.)
Qualified analysis and evaluation of the Modern Synthesis can come only from those with appropriate intellectual credentials -- it cannot come from those whose antecedent ideological biases and prejudices preclude an objective assessment of scientifically validated truth. We should think deeply about this.
Who will control them?
While in the Mideast Obama also announced to the world, Islam has a proud tradition of tolerance. I guess from his vantage point - sipping a frappuccino between cigarettes over The New York Times every morning, prior to issuing daily marching orders to his leftist cadres - waterboarding must seem barbaric and Shariah Law tolerant.
It is a tragic reality that Obama and his acolytes might only see the light when some tolerant cell of Jihadis detonates a nuclear device in a U.S. urban center. Perhaps the source of their fissile core will be an Islamic nuclear power Obama coddled for conversation like, say, Iran, which has certainly been demonstrating its penchant of late for Muslim tolerance of Iranian dissenters.
Never forget 9/11 and the thousands who died at the hands of these Muslim brethren though be it that they are extremist! Who is to control them if we don't?
Pawlenty's answer was baloney
Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, said Republican Gov. Mark Sanford's dirty doings are not part of politics! Baloney! What about other recent Republicans who lost their positions because of free time and dirty doings. The list goes on and on!
Furthermore, my thoughts, along with others, are What are you doing barnstorming in Arkansas, when you should be taking care of more important problems in your home state of Minnesota?
