Demgen to seek re-election in Cass county

Cass County Commissioner Jim Demgen, who was first elected in 1988, announced this weekend he'll run for re-election to the Cass County Board in District 1.

Demgen, East Gull Lake, has worked for Hillyard Floor Care Supply, a manufacturer of floor care supply products, for 26 years.

Because of redistricting all five Cass commissioners are up for re-election this year. Demgen was elected in 1988, 1992, 1996 and 2000. The county also renumbered its commissioner districts so that the former District 2 that Demgen represented is now District 1.

"Even though I was re-elected as the commissioner from District 2 to serve a four-year term, the redistricting requires me to again seek re-election with two years remaining on my present term," he wrote in a statement. "I am ready to accept the challenge and am eager to continue to serve the people of Cass County but most importantly those in the southern part of the county which is now Commissioner District 1."
