MILACA -- A 36-year-old Zimmerman man was listed in critical condition Saturday at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale after hitting a deer while on his motorcycle Friday.
James Gjertsen was driving his 1992 Harley Davidson on Highway 169, seven miles north of Milaca, when the accident occurred. The State Patrol received the call at 10:13 p.m.
Gjertsen was taken to Fairview Northland Regional Hospital in Princeton and then airlifted to the hospital in Robbinsdale.
Four injured in accident
NISSWA -- Four people, including a Lake Shore police officer, were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 10:47 p.m. Friday on Highway 371, one mile north of Nisswa, reported the State Patrol.
Lake Shore Police Officer Shaun White, 23, Ironton, was driving the police squad car when the accident occurred. He and a passenger, Dayne Gottsch, 20, Pequot Lakes, were both treated for minor injuries and released from St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.
Timothy Caouette, 39, Pine River, was the driver of the second vehicle. Caouette was treated for minor injuries and released from the Brainerd hospital.
Caouette had three passengers in the vehicle: Gay Caouette, 43, Pine River, was treated for minor injuries and released from the Brainerd hospital; Dennis Caouette, 66, and Genevieve Caouette, 64, both of Albuquerque, N.M., had minor injuries but were not hospitalized.
