McGREGOR -- Loren E. Freeberg, 72, McGregor, formerly of Glencoe, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at Waconia Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Waconia.
He was born April 13, 1930, in Willmar to Algot and Grace Freeberg. He attended schools in Svea and helped with the farm. He served in the Air Force. He married Jean E. Thompson on July 12, 1955, in Svea. They lived in Glencoe. He attended college and received his degree in engineering. He worked for Telex Communications in Glencoe for 32 years, retiring in 1989. After his retirement, they moved to the McGregor area. He was a member of the Glencoe Chamber of Commerce, served on the Glencoe City Council, the Aitkin County Forestry Board, the Big Sandy Lake Watershed Task Force and the Turner Township Board. He was a member of the Savana Country Club.
Survivors include a son, Jeff Freeberg, Hudson, Wis.; two daughters, Lori Dixon, Chaska, and Jackie Schmalz, Lester Prairie; six grandchildren; and a brother, Howard Freeberg, Willmar.
His wife; a sister, Ardella Myers; and his parents died earlier.
Services will be 2 p.m. July 6 at Grace Lutheran Church near McGregor with the Rev. Robert Munneke officiating. Burial will be in the Round Lake Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the McGregor Larson-Deneen VFW Post.
Friends may call an hour before services July 6 at the church.
